About Us

Launching military family scholars forward since 1989.

The Lewis-McChord Family Scholarship Fund was established in 1989 as the Fort Lewis Military Family Member Scholarship Fund to further the educational goals of active duty, retired, and surviving spouses and children of Army Soldiers.

In 2019, we expanded eligibility to include spouses and children of all branches of military service members.

The following award year, we officially changed our organization’s name to the Lewis-McChord Family Scholarship Fund to reflect our commitment to all military families in the Joint Base Lewis-McChord community.

The Lewis-McChord Family Scholarship Fund is funded entirely by donations and contributions from local organizations and individuals.

Some of our notable donors are:

Fort Lewis Thrift Shop
Spouses’ Club of Lewis-McChord
Rotary Club of Lakewood, Washington
Thurston County Chamber Foundation
Sergeants Major Association of the Northwest

We have an all-volunteer board comprised of spouses of active duty and retired service members.
